Mack's retirement

Thursday, September 04, 2008

Dear Family of Saint John’s,

After 23 years of ministry alongside us and with us, Mack Thomas has decided to retire from his work at Saint John’s, effective September 15, 2008. Mack has been a trusted colleague, friend, confident, and fellow-laborer in the Lord’s field with all of us.

For almost all of us, at some point since 1985, Mack has gone out of the way to pick us help, to help us, to do a duty no one else wanted and many other unknown and unheralded tasks. All of us at Saint John’s will miss Mack immensely, although he tells me that we will see him often, as he only has three places to go: home, the coffee shop, and Saint John’s.

In honor of Mack, his retirement, and his many years of dedicated service to Saint John’s, we will be having a reception in his honor following the 10:15 am liturgy on September 14, 2008.

We will be collecting a purse for a retirement gift for Mack. If you would like to donate, please make a check payable to Saint John’s Ministry Fund, with Mack on the memo line. Remember that gifts to individuals are not tax deductible and do not appear on giving statements. Please also bring a card or note of thanks to Mack on the 14th.

I, perhaps more than most, will miss Mack, but let’s make sure to give him a great send-off and thank you for all his years of service to Saint John’s.

In Christ,

(The Reverend Canon) Edward R. Monk, SSC
