December 21 Church News

Christmas Eve Services

We will have two wonderful Christmas Eve Services this year:

At 4:00 pm, we will have a family Eucharist with the singing of Christmas Carols and a Children’s Choir. A Children’s Sermon will be given with the reading of the Christmas story.

At 10:00 pm, we will have a choral prelude of sacred Christmas music.

At 10:30 pm, we will have a Solemn Mass of the Nativity in Celebration of the 100th Anniversary of Saint John’s Present Nave.

We will use the liturgy from the 1892 Book of Common Prayer, as well as service music from that period.

Children’s Chapel

Heifer Project

Rabbits Are In!

The St. John’s kids in Children’s Chapel held their own election last week and the rabbits received the nod for animal of the year.  We will send our Chapel collection to Heifer International in April ’09, after Easter.

According to Heifer International, rabbits multiply rapidly making them a low cost high yield way to help impoverished families increase their income.  Also, rabbits are easy to care for, require only simple food and produce manure that can be applied to gardens without composting, immediately boosting crop productivity.

If you would like to help us send more rabbits around the world place a donation in the plate and earmark it ‘Children’s Chapel’ or ‘rabbits’ and we will take care of the rest.  A trio of Rabbits is $ 60 but any donation is appreciated.

Prayer Request Box

The Daughters of the King’s Prayer Request Box is located at the back of the church beside the door leading to the Narthex.  You may place your prayer request, which will remain confidential, in the box, and the Daughters of the King will pray daily for your concerns.  There are new forms placed in the pew racks this morning for your use.

Habitat for Humanity

Our next Habitat workday will be on Saturday February 7 beginning at 8:00 am.

We will be working on the first Saturday of each month.
